The Marine Technology Society promotes awareness, understanding, and the advancement and application of marine technology around the world. MTS- IIT Delhi section would focus to promote MTS’s mission with a thrust on student membership and participation.
Past 10 years we have observed the maritime industry which has seen a myriad of technological innovations aimed at reducing carbon emissions from ships, improving fuel efficiency, and making machinery systems more reliable. Many of these technologies either failed to get implemented or faced delays in the development process.
The Maritime industry is adapting rapidly to modern technologies with a focus on autonomy, IoT and Data Analytics. These ‘smart’ maritime technologies are transforming the existing paradigm with the entire maritime industry and eco-system moving in this direction. The use of autonomous systems combined with the automation on board will provide the human element a wider range of options and system generated optimal solutions.
Data Analytics is helping to access the enormous quantities of data towards enhancing efficiency and outputs while enabling savings and optimizing time management, all of which are critical to the shipping industry. The digital analysis of oceanographic data and weather patterns, to increase both safety and economy in routing ships and minimizing delays due to inclement weather or adverse ocean conditions through digital charts and electronic chart display systems, is now a standard feature on board ships.
MTS-IIT Delhi is basically a group of likeminded scientists, research scholars, students, and some leading marine technology industries.
• Enable a wider understanding of the relevance of marine technology to wider global issues by enhancing the broadcasting of marine technology information.
• Promote and improve marine technology and related educational programs and resources while promoting member success and public understanding.
• Advance the development of the tools and procedures required to explore, study and further the responsible and sustainable use of the oceans.
